The Journey of Bella Beverages
K-Roma Limited is an indeginoous Ugandan
enterprise that was established in Uganda in 2004
as a Limited Liability Company (LLC). Its principal
activities are the production, marketing and
distribution of organic wines and juices. K. Roma’s
major products are Bella wines and Bella juice
concentrates.
Our wines and juices are made from organically
grown fruits. We are proud to provide the best
quality organic wines and juices in Uganda.

To become the leading producer and supplier of
quality wines, tropical fruit juice concentrates and
health drinks in East Africa

concentrates and Ready-To-Drink (RTD) fruit juices,
while creating jobs for youth in Uganda and East

COMPANY
Having realized that there were no pure-
natural fruit products, Mrs. Ukkonika
decided to start a company dealing in the
production of organic fruit products, mainly
concentrating on wines and juices. Initially the
company was called Kucharoma, meaning ‘Peace is
enough’, but changed to K-Roma upon registration
in 2004. Together with her late son Godwin, they
started by selling wine in Kampala from the relatives
in Lira in 2000. When he passed on, she did not
want the business to end, so she took courses in
wine making and soon the market widened. Her
first financial investment in the business was from
the savings she had amassed from her jobs; she first
worked with Uganda Socks Manufacturers in the late
1970’s, and then joined the Ministry of Finance. In
both jobs, she would try to balance her work with her
studies and her business venture.
MRS UKKONIKA PRUDENCE

FAMILY BACKGROUND
As a teenager, Mrs. Ukkonika would watch her father
trading local brew in Kigezi. When his market slowly
started declining as other people engaged in the
same business, he instead went to Kampala, obtained
a certificate to brew waragi, and later ventured into
buying waragi from his competitors and reselling it.
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
ADVICE FROM MRS. UKKONIKA
Mrs. Ukkonika has a Diploma in Public Administration
and a Diploma in Business Administration, which she
pursued together in 2000. In 2003 she completed
a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration,
majoring in Management, at Ndejje University, and a
Master’s Diploma in Business Administration in 2007.
Mrs. Ukkonika advised the youth to take courses
that will help them be self reliant, thus job creators.
She further advised the young and upcoming
entrepreneurs to think positively, be initiative,
determined and value quality if they are to succeed
as entrepreneurs.
